SV Sandhausen, footballing heroes of the Rhine Valley
SV Sandhausen plays its football in the small town of the same name in the Rhine Rift Valley near Heidelberg. The history of the club is one of the lower leagues, but that doesn't mean that there's anything not to like about their brand of football, as you can find out when you buy or sell SV Sandhausen tickets on StubHub. The team is the main one in the general region, so it has a large following and an atmospheric home ground.
A long-awaited solid position in the German second division
SV Sandhausen began playing league football in the early 1930s, having played in the lower ranks since the club's formation in 1916. It made its mark at a semi-pro level and earned promotion to the Bezirksliga Rhein-Saar, which at the time was the highest league association in the area covering the Saarland and parts of Baden and Bavaria. It has traditionally played its home games at BWT Stadion am Hardtwald, which has been its home in the modern era. Most of this time has seen the club remain a regular fixture in the 2. Bundesliga, which they've pretty much made their permanent home, despite finding themselves dropping to the third division on a few occasions over the years. When they've played in the lower league, they have quickly bounced back up again, and as a result, the club has seldom had any financial woes, as SV Sandhausen tickets have remained perennially popular.
Escaping peril in the football world
At one point in the mid 2000s, there was an attempt to merge SV Sandhausen with two other teams from the region, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and FC Astoria Walldorf to form a team that was to be known as FC Heidelberg 06, but none of the club's sponsors were much in favour of the idea and each one has since retained their independence. Another close call for the club's existence was when it was almost relegated to division three, only to be saved by a technicality that saw MSV Duisburg having to give up its own spot instead. SV Sandhausen wasted no time in taking advantage of this reprieve and made absolutely sure of remaining in the second division from then on. It has been a long road from the days of desperately scratching for survival in leagues a mile away from the fame and fortune of the Bundesliga, but the club has forged a proud record and culture that is still very much alive, particularly when you've got SV Sandhausen tickets on StubHub for their home games.
