Get Wild with Supersuckers
When you see a band that isn't afraid to call itself the "Greatest Rock 'n' Roll Band in the World", you'd better be ready to have fun and get wild, because Supersuckers play hard, fast and have no time for political correctness or sad lyrics.
Schedule
Tours take the band to various venues across the UK, including stops in Oxford, Birmingham, Sheffield, Liverpool, and London. Common European stops include a variety of notable French venues including Le 106 in Rouen, La Clef in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, and La Ferrailleur in Nantes.
Trivia
The band is known for hard-driving sounds, arrogant attitudes, and controversial lyrics; but they also toss in some charity work while they're at it. The band's softer side has come out in numerous appearances at Farm Aid concerts, and they even worked to raise awareness for the West Memphis 3 -- a trio of accused murders who have since been released from jail.
The band has also surprised fans with collaborations with artists from a wide range of genres including Steve Earle, Eddie Vedder and Willie Nelson.
Band
Formed in 1988 under the name Black Supersuckers, the band started out as a five-piece of diverse musicians. Eric Martin served as the lead singer, Eddie Spaghetti was the bassist, Dancing Eagle played the drums, and guitars were handled by both Rontrose Heathman and Dan "Thunder" Bolton. Following Martin's untimely death, Eddie Spaghetti picked up the lead vocals. The band has undergone a few lineup changes over the years, even having Heathman leave and then return, but it still retains original members Eddie Spaghetti and Dan "Thunder" Bolton. The modern lineup is fleshed out with "Metal" Marty Chandler on guitar and drummer Christopher "Chango" Von Streicher.
It was only four years after forming that the band was signed by legendary indie label Sub Pop. This led to the release of their first full-length studio album, The Smoke of Hell. After releasing several albums with Sub Pop, the band created their own label in 2001. They called it Mid-Fi Recordings, and released several albums under this name before their 2014 album, Get the Hell, was released by Acetate Records.
Breakthrough
After four years of jumping from one small label to another, the band put together a collection of singles called The Songs All Sound the Same. It was this album that got the attention of Sup Pop and their first big record deal. The Songs All Sound the Same featured original tracks as well as covers of songs by the Dead Boys, Motorhead and even Madonna.
Hit Albums
The band's irreverent attitude has earned them a loyal following around the world. La Mano Cornuda, put out in 1994, is a fan favourite. It has heavy metal tracks such as "Creepy Jackalope Eye" and a hidden track at the end of the album that simply replays the album. Supersuckers won more followers in 1997 with the release of country album Must've Been High. The album had a Western-style cover and songs played on the banjo, harmonica, and fiddle. Though this foray into alternative country was only temporary, it marked a high point in the band's career.
Show Experience
Supersuckers play raucous, unapologetic rock 'n roll with a dose of country mixed in, and they dress the part, too. You'll usually see them on stage wearing black shirts and blue jeans with long hair hanging down from their cowboy hats and rugged beards symbolising years of travelling in vans and sleeping in motels. This band doesn't just rock play music, they live it. When you've got Supersuckers tickets, you get treated to Eddie Spaghetti and the boys making raunchy jokes and interacting with the rock-crazed audience throughout the show.
