A Grade 1 talent
Born in Ghana's Greater Acca region in 1988, Livingstone Etse Satekla first began rapping at high school and soon became a popular figure on the underground circuit. He subsequently landed a deal with Samini's record label after catching the attention of the dancehall veteran at a rap battle and later teamed up with him on the single "Climax". He achieved mainstream recognition in 2012 with his first studio effort, "Grade 1 Album", a critically-acclaimed affair boasting guest appearances from established Ghanaian artists such as Edem and Tinny. Featuring a cameo from his high school friend and fellow rapper Sarkodie, 2014 sophomore "Necessary Evil" saw Stonebwoy pick up three Ghana Music Awards, while a year later he was crowned Best International Act: Africa at the BET Awards. Stonebwoy then headed out on his first North American tour before recruiting the likes of Burna Boy, King Promise and the chart-topping Sean Paul for 2017's "Epistles of Mama", a 24-track release dedicated to his late mother. A melting pot of vibrant African sounds
Stonebwoy has taken his melting pot of African sounds across the globe since bursting onto the scene in the early 2010s, performing to sell-out crowds in Europe, North America and Asia. He's also the man behind one of Ghana's biggest one-day musical events, Ashaiman to the World. Regularly attracting audiences of up to 50,000 people, the feast of reggae, dancehall and Afropop has been staged at Sakasaka Park in his hometown every year since 2014, with Kwaw Kese, Lil Win and Fancy Gadam just some of the major names who have performed there. Whether he's gracing the festival stage or performing at his own headline shows, Soundbwoy is always a charismatic and energetic live presence who's capable of switching between melodic vocals and rapping with ease. Fans should expect to hear all the hits, including "Top Skanka", "Mane Me", "Most Original" and "Tomorrow", the latter of which has racked up more than a million views on YouTube.
