Steve Hackett announces 2018 Genesis Revisited UK tour

Best known as the guitarist for rock gods Genesis, British singer-songwriter Steve Hackett has an eclectic back catalogue that needs to be heard live to be truly appreciated. An influence on everyone from Queen's Brian May to Eddie Van Halen, Hackett has released albums and toured worldwide for almost 50 years and continues to be far ahead of his time as a guitarist. 

To the delight of UK fans, Hackett has announced that he will play six 'Genesis Revisited' shows across the UK in October 2018 alongside a 41-piece orchestra led by conductor Bradley Thachuk. The live dates will see Hackett perform some of Genesis’ best-loved hit in Nottingham, Manchester, London, Birmingham, Gateshead and Glasgow. 

Hackett says: "I always hoped that the Genesis music would one day involve an orchestra and I'm proud to say I'll now be able to make that dream a reality on my next British tour – involving my own extraordinary rock band alongside a full-sized orchestra."

Born in London in 1950, Hackett was hugely influenced by the swinging '60s; soaking up as music and culture as he could absorb. Hitting the big time with progressive rockers Genesis in 1970, he contributed to six studio albums along with releasing a debut album of solo material in 1975 titled Voyage of the Acolyte. The album gave Hackett a taste of the creative freedom he lacked working within a group, and he subsequently left Genesis in 1977.

Since then, he has gone on to release a jaw-dropping 24 solo studio LPs, and has supported each release with almost continuous touring. Other strings on the guitarist's bow include co-founding guitar oriented super group GTR with Steve Howe of Yes and Asia fame in 1986. Although short lived, their self-titled album went gold and peaked at number 11 in the UK Album Chart.

Another accolade saw the musician, along with Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford, welcomed into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.
