Slayer farewell tour: metal legends to visit UK one last time
For more than three decades, Slayer's furious tempos, powerful instrumentals, and aggressive musicianship has helped the group reshape rock music in their own image and pioneer a new brand of metal known as 'thrash'. Albums such as Reign in Blood (1986) and Divine Intervention (1994) are among some of the most influential works in the history of metal, while the band are also widely-regarded as one of the most entertaining live acts in the world.
After again thrilling crowds with a brilliant set of classics ("Angel of Death", "Chemical Warfare" and "Jesus Saves") and newer material ("Bloodline", "Eyes of the Insane" and "Implode") across North America last year, Slayer will now play seven huge concerts in the UK and Ireland this winter as part of their 2018 farewell tour. Supported by Lamb Of God, Anthrax and Obituary, the lads kick off the tour in Dublin, before calling at London, Cardiff, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow before the end of November – meaning rock fans up and down the country will have a chance to see Slayer live. So what are you waiting for? Buy Slayer tickets at StubHub UK today and join in the epic farewell.
Slayer: laying an epic career to rest
Heavily influenced by British counterparts such as Iron Maiden and Motörhead, Slayer – together with Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax – went on to form "The Big Four" of thrash metal. Since their debut album Show No Mercy (1983) the group have recorded 12 studio records – racking up sales of close to five million worldwide in the process – and played nearly 3000 concerts across the globe. Sixth album Divine Intervention (1994) hit the UK top 20, 2016's Repentless was a hit across the globe, while 2006's Christ Illusion reached number five on the US charts and earned the best some of the finest reviews of their long and illustrious career. The album produced hits such as "Jihad" and "Eyes of the Insane," both Grammy Award winners, and created a characteristic buzz and controversy thanks to lyrical themes linked to religion, warfare and terrorism.
Now, after nearly 37 years, the legendary group are calling it a day – but not without first saying a proper farewell to their devoted army of UK fans. Book your place in the crowd when you buy Slayer tickets at StubHub.
