Take your place beside the Silverstone circuit
The Silverstone circuit was originally an RAF airfield which, having fallen into disuse after the Second World War, was employed by a group of local friends for amateur motor racing in the late 1940s. After becoming a professional racing venue, the first-ever F1 race was held here in the form of the 1950 Grand Prix, which was won by Giuseppe Farina. Although the Formula One British Grand Prix has also been held at Aintree and Brands Hatch, its official home has been Silverstone since 1987. One rumoured move to Donnington Park in 2009 failed to take place and a new lease for the competition was then signed for Silverstone. The venue is owned by the British Racing Drivers' Club and holds other major events besides Formula One, including the Moto GP British Grand Prix. A famously fast course, the circuit at Silverstone was given a major overhaul during the 1990s to make it safer after Ayrton Senna and Roland Ratzenberger crashed fatally at the San Marino Grand Prix. Still a difficult drive no matter whether conditions are wet or dry, Silverstone tickets guarantee a thrilling day out at the races.
Watch history being made at Silverstone
While the British Grand Prix is probably the best attended of the Silverstone events and has seen a huge number of historic moments (including Lewis Hamilton setting the record for the fastest lap of the Grand Prix circuit in 2017), another major date on the calendar is the Silverstone Classic. This three-day classic race meeting features not just races but live music, trade stands, car auctions and the opportunity for classic car clubs to meet one another. Attendance at the Silverstone Classic is usually around 100,000; Silverstone events can generally host up to 150,000 and offer a wide range of hospitality packages suitable for individuals and groups. And, if you enjoy it enough, you can even have the chance to get behind the wheel yourself with a Silverstone driving experience. From a general admission ticket to an all-inclusive package, your day at the races can be a real experience to remember. You can buy or sell your Silverstone tickets on StubHub now.
