Born in Missouri in 1962, singer-songwriter and guitarist Sheryl Crow worked as a music teacher before finding fame. Taking her first steps in the music business by making advertising jingles, she went on to tour as a backing singer for Michael Jackson in the late 1980s. Her debut album, Tuesday Night Music Club, was released in 1993 (after her first attempt at recording an album was scrapped), and featured the smash single "All I Wanna Do". Building a global fan base, her fame was compounded with the 1996 release of her eponymous sophomore effort, featuring the smash hit "A Change Would Do You Good". Despite her success, she struggled with depression, in part documented on 1998's album The Globe Sessions. While the details of her depression remained up to speculation, the track "My Favorite Mistake" is rumoured to be about a brief affair with Eric Clapton.
