Shania Twain: country-pop queen marks triumphant comeback with huge 2018 world tour, including UK dates in London, Glasgow and Manchester
After almost a decade and a half out of the limelight, it's easy to forget just how successful Shania Twain was in her heyday: five Grammy Awards; number one albums across the globe; some of the most catchy pop songs ever written ("That Don't Impress Me Much", "You're Still the One" and "Man! I Feel Like A Woman") a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; and one of the best-selling artists of all time, with record sales in excess of 100 million. Shania Twain truly is, as her honorific nickname goes, the "Queen of Country-Pop".
Come On Over, Shania's third record, is the best-selling studio album of all time by a female act and the best-selling country album in history, selling over 40 million copies worldwide while, at the peak of her powers in 2003, she was chosen as the half-time act at the US Super Bowl. Health and personal problems derailed her career in 2004, with Shania saying in her 2011 autobiography that a weakening singing voice was the reason for her not performing. In 2012, she returned to the concert stage in the critically acclaimed show Still the One, at the world famous Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas before announcing a 'farewell' tour in 2015.
Shania Twain: unquestionably one of the most commercially successful singers of all time
Fortunately for Shania fans, however, 2015 wasn't to be the end, as Twain confirmed in late-2016 that her new album – Now - would be released in September 2017 (her first work for 15 years). Shania made appearances on television shows in 2017 – including The One Show and Strictly Come Dancing – as well as at Radio 2's Live in Hyde Park festival.
She then released four singles – "Life's About to Get Good", "Swingin' with My Eyes Closed", "Poor Me" and "We Got Something They Don't" – in the build up to the album's release and announced a massive Now tour for 2018, including six UK and Ireland concerts.
Shania Twain will play Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, Belfast, Dublin and London in late-September/early-October 2018 – meaning fans up and down the country (and both sides of the Irish Sea) will be able to see Shania Twain live in concert.
