Tickets & Tour Information For Sean Paul
Sean Paul: Jamaican dancehall superstar to play UK stadium gigs in Coventry and Cardiff this August
Dancehall superstar Sean Paul began scoring hit singles in his native Jamaica in the mid-90s before attracting international attention shortly after the millennium. Known for his pulsating beats and catchy lyrics, the singles "Gimme the Light" and "Get Busy" helped 2002's Dutty Rock become a worldwide success, going on to sell over six million copies.
Since then, Sean Paul has become one of the most recognisable names in the UK charts, with his ability to mesh pop and more traditional reggae inflections allowing him to craft a distinct niche in contemporary music for over two decades.
Collaborations with Australian singer Sia ("Cheap Thrills", a number one hit in 15 countries), British girl band Little Mix (on the track "Hair") and classical crossover group Clean Bandit ("Rockabye", a Christmas number one hit that spent nine consecutive weeks as the UK number one) helped propel Sean Paul to a commercial resurgence in 2016; and after thrilling crowds with a brilliant set of classics and new material during his slot at Jamaica's Reggae Sumfest, the Grammy award-winner has announced that he will play two huge UK concerts in August 2018.
Sean Paul will visit Cardiff's Motorpoint Arena and The Ricoh Arena in Coventry after the release of Dutty Classics Collection last summer. So what are you waiting for? Buy Sean Paul tickets at StubHub today and be among the first to hear his latest material live.
Sean Paul: reggae-pop fusion a winning formula for chart-topping hitmaker
Paul's debut album Stage One (2002) sold about 500,000 copies – no mean feat for a solo artist with little backing – but it was second album Dutty Rock that launched him onto the international stage. Featuring two US number one singles – "Get Busy" and Beyoncé's "Baby Boy" – plus top 10 UK singles "Gimme the Light", "Like Glue" and "I'm Still in Love with You", the record was a phenomenal success; reaching number two on the UK Albums Chart, and number nine on the US Billboard 200.
Paul's third album – The Trinity (2005) – topped the Reggae chart, selling over 107,000 in its first week and over 4.3 million to date before fourth album Imperial Blaze (2009) became the first ever Jamaican album to debut atop the Billboard Rap Albums chart.
Reviews for Paul's sixth album Full Frequency were among some of the best of his long and distinguished career, while collaborations with Clean Bandit and Sia have generated much excitement and anticipation ahead of his next release, which is expected in 2018.
