Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox Biography - A Dive Into A Retro Cabaret
Long Island born Scott Bradlee grew up with a deep love of jazz, working as a career pianist at night clubs in New York City. Spotting a gap in the market, he began rewriting pop songs with flourishes from a bygone era, stating that his goal was to show his audience that "Songs can be twisted, shaped, and altered without losing their identities".
His first success came in 2011 with the video 'A Motown tribute to Nickelback', which came complete with '60s inspired arrangements. The first video of PMJ to receive viral attention was Robyn Adele Anderson's cover of the Macklemore & Ryan Lewis breakthrough track 'Thrift Shop'. From there, the act flourished and the ever rotating array of guest vocalists allowed the group to record hundreds of songs that spanned almost every genre.
