The teams that fancy their chances

The 2019 RugbyX competitors included both men’s and women’s Sevens squads from England, Ireland, France and Argentina, as well as the Barbarians and USA Sevens Rugby. The Barbarians are a rugby football club comprised solely of players that have been invited to join the team. As of 2011, the club has seen athletes from 31 different countries make up its squad. The teams are split into two groups of three and compete against each other once over an afternoon session. The best two teams go through to the semi-finals, which happen in a later evening session. It all comes down to one final match-up for the prized championship title. Technical Director Ben Ryan has played a significant role in the development of RugbyX and sees the game helping change the way sports fans enjoy Rugby in the future. Ryan is known for his role as the coach of the gold medal-winning rugby sevens team from Fiji, although that soon promises to change as RugbyX arrives to spice up the sporting world.
