Post Malone: See one of R&B's biggest superstars at Glasgow Green
Voted "Most Likely to Become Famous" by his classmates at high school ... before working at US fast food outlet Chicken Express, it certainly wasn't easy to predict how Post Malone's future career would pan out. However, after the release of his four times-platinum debut single "White Iverson" any doubts about the future R&B star's chances of success soon evaporated. The smash hit sold over four million digital copies, received over 515 million views on YouTube, and earned the youngster a record deal soon after.
Post Malone's debut album Stoney – featuring guest appearances from Justin Bieber, Kehlani, Quavo and 2 Chainz – peaked at number four on the US Billboard 200 and was certified double platinum less than a year later; selling 1.4 million copies. Now a regular sound card topper at the biggest UK festivals, Post Malone continues to go from strength to strength. Keep your eyes peeled for the rapper's next UK tour dates and buy Post Malone tickets at StubHub.
Post Malone: meteoric rise of young star
Born in New York, Austin Richard Post was introduced to many different genres of music from a young age by his DJ father. As a young guitarist he tried out for the band Crown the Empire in 2010, but was rejected after a failed audition. After briefly joining a heavy-metal group, Post turned to softer rock and hip-hop; recording his own mixtape Young and After Them Riches on his laptop. He took the moniker Post Malone, he says, from an online name generator.
Following the success of his debut track "White Iverson" on SoundCloud and YouTube in 2015, record labels quickly began to circle. Post Malone was signed to Republic Records and was soon working with the likes of 50 Cent, Young Thug, Childish Gambino and Kanye West (with whom he collaborated on the single "Fade"). He supported Justin Bieber on the Canadian's Purpose World Tour and then made his national television debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, where he performed new single "Go Flex".
Taking advantage of his high profile appearances and association with household names, Post Malone released his debut album Stoney in December 2016, after multiple delays. Single "Congratulations" featuring Quavo, became Post's first top-ten song on the Billboard Hot 100, but with the rapper dissatisfied with the album he announced that he was already working on his next project.
Malone came back strong, with "Rockstar" – the first single from his upcoming second album Beerbongs & Bentleys – peaking at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and holding the spot for eight consecutive weeks.
