Pantera – one of the most successful metal bands of all time
This Texan band amassed a huge following and became one of the most successful metal bands of their era, considered on a par with bands such as Slayer, Metallica, Megadeth, White Zombie and Sepultura. In the early 90s, their major breakthrough came about in the shape of their second album, Vulgar Display of Power, while their 1994 album, Far Beyond Driven, debuted at the top of the Billboard Top 200, thanks in part to the popular single I’m Broken. During the mid '90s, after the release of The Great Southern Trendkill, vocalist Phil Anselmo branched off to work on side projects, however they managed to regroup several times to release albums such as Reinventing the Steel, while band members also spent time forming other bands on the side including Down, Damageplan and Superjoint Ritual. The band in concert has always caused a stir, which is why StubHub makes sure that if they perform again, fans can easily get hold of Pantera tickets. Pioneers of heavy metal
Hailing from Texas, the band was formed in the early 1980s, led by the vocalist Terry Glaze and featuring the brothers Vinnie Paul on drums and Dimebag Darrel on guitar. Rex Brown, the bassist, joined the band soon after. As their sound matured, Glaze was replaced by Phil Anselmo, who became the face of the band. While the band had its ups and downs over the years, they secured a loyal following, released a slew of smash hit singles and albums and toured extensively both at home and abroad. While their original sound was described as glam metal, their style grew heavier over the years, mixing styles such as hard rock and thrash metal – sometimes within the same song or album. Other genres influenced them, such as groove metal, nu metal and metalcore. If you are a fan of these pioneers of American heavy metal, you can keep an eye out for the band coming together again for another concert by checking StubHub for the latest updates.
