OK Go's Rise to Fame

OK Go has been touring for more than ten years. During that time, it has toured with numerous musical groups including Phantom Planet, Death Cab for Cutie, The Donnas, The Vines, Snow Patrol and Panic! at the Disco. A few notable venues OK Go has played at include the Santa Monica Pier in California, Glavclub in Moscow and Umeda Club Quattro in Japan. This band has also participated in several music festivals, such as Positivus Festival in Latvia, Festival Cultura Quente in Spain and the Life is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas. The band toured in multiple US cities in 2014 and plans to head to Moscow, Paris, Amsterdam, London and Tokyo in 2015.

Trivia

OK Go is so named because the art teacher of two of the band's members would exclaim, "OK, Go!" to get the class to draw. However, the band only started using this name in 1998. Prior to that, three of the band's members were in a college band called Stanley's Joyful Noise. Though all of the band's members now reside in Los Angeles, they all agree they are a Chicago band since that's where they got their start in music.

Band

The lead singer of the band is Damian Kulash, and he formed OK Go with Tim Nordwind, who plays bass. The two met Andy Duncan in high school, and he would eventually play keyboard and guitar in the band for a short time. However, in 2005, he was replaced by Andy Ross. In addition, Dan Konopka plays percussion and drums. OK Go is known for releasing entertaining music videos for their songs, with many going viral on YouTube and even being chosen to promote different brands.

Breakthrough

The first album the band released was called "OK Go" in 2002. It contained the single "Get Over It," which was so popular that it was featured in the Madden NFL 2003 and EA Sports Triple Play Baseball 2002 video games. The song was also played in the movie trailers for "Good Luck Chuck" and "Just Friends." So it's no wonder that this album achieved the number 1 spot on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart in the US and the number 27 spot on the UK Singles Chart.

Hit Albums

The second album released by OK Go was "Oh No." Released in 2005, it reached number 69 on the Billboard 200 chart, largely due to the popularity of the single "A Million Ways." Other popular songs on the album included "Do What You Want," "Invincible," and "Here It Goes Again." The next album, "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky," was not released until 2010. The album reached number 40 on the Billboard 200 chart and featured singles like "WTF?," "All Is Not Lost," and "This Too Shall Pass." In 2014, "Hungry Ghosts" was released, with "The Writing's on the Wall" being among the most popular singles on it.
