Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater is one of two major outdoor amphitheaters in the New York metropolitan area. The theater is located at Jones Beach State Park in Wantagh, NY. It was designed by famous architect Robert Moses, who's responsible for the creation of Jones Beach State Park. The theater opened its doors in 1952 and was known as Jones Beach Marine Theater. The theater originally had a seating capacity of 8,200. In 1991 and 1992, the theater underwent a major renovation, and the capacity was expanded to 11,200. In 1998, the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater seating capacity was expanded once more to 15,000. It originally hosted musicals but has since expanded to host a variety of events, including air shows, fireworks and concerts. Jimmy Buffett, Toby Keith and Aerosmith have performed at the theater. Is on-site parking available?

Yes, there's on-site parking. General parking is free in Field 5 with a valid concert ticket. For all others, the cost is $10 unless you possess an unlimited-use Empire Passport, which costs $80. VIP parking is also available in VIP Lot #5A. Parking in this location requires a special VIP ticket or pass. VIP parking is desired because it offers a faster exit from the theater. Overnight parking isn't allowed in any of the parking lots because Jones Beach Park has a midnight curfew.

Can you tell me about seating at the venue?

The theater has orchestra, stadium, mezzanine and VIP/box seats. The orchestra seats give you an excellent view of the action because they're closest to the stage. The stadium seats are placed farther back and divided into two sections. They're similar to the upper seats in a football stadium. The mezzanine seats offer a wide range of viewpoints and are situated behind the stadium seats. The VIP seats offer the best views and are located in the middle of the orchestra seats.

Can you tell me about the food and drink offerings?

The Smorgasburg food court is located at the main entrance of Jones Beach Park. It also includes a beer garden. A wide variety of restaurants are located in the food court, including Hank's Fish Hut, El Gato Nacho and Summers, which offers fresh meals and beach snacks.

Should I call a sitter, or can I bring the young ones along?

Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater events are open to all ages. Children ages 2 and under get in free but must sit on the lap of a parent or guardian.
