The 2020 NHRA Carolina Nationals will return to zMAX Dragway in Charlotte, North Carolina. The drag strip is located at the world-famous Charlotte Motor Speedway. When zMAX Dragway was opened in 2008, it became the first four-lane drag strip in auto racing history. The first race at the new track was an unofficial one. The day before NASCAR's Coca Cola 600, ground was broken on what would become zMAX Dragway. Mike Neff and teammate John Force ran an impromptu race on the incomplete track. The 2019 running of the NHRA Carolina Nationals saw 14 different categories compete over four days in October at the zMAX Dragway. Of those 14 categories, some of the most recognizable names in the NHRA brought home victories. Steve Torrence claimed victory in the Top Fuel division while Andrew Hines was the winner of the Pro Stock Motorcycle category.
