NASCAR XFINITY Series tour dates
Born from the desire and need to stabilize and consolidate on a national level the rules of stock car racing (which exploded in popularity following the end of World War II), the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR) was born in 1947 in Daytona Beach, FL. It is the premier motorsports organization in the world. Sanctioning hundreds of races throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Europe, the organization produces many of the “most highly attended sporting events in the world.”
The first NASCAR-sanctioned race was held on Daytona’s beach-road course in February 1948. The NASCAR XFINITY branding comes from NASCAR’s “entitlement partner” and sponsor, Comcast Cable. XFINITY is Comcast’s video and internet service. Attempting to use this brand and platform as a means of enriching the “viewing experience for fans,” who can watch the race on any of their devices and “never miss a minute of the action.”
Since rising costs made weekly racing difficult, the idea was hatched to bring all the regional stars together into one new series for all races. This series was at first called the NASCAR Budweiser Late Model Sportsman Series in 1982. Then it became the NASCAR Busch Series from 1984, followed by the NASCAR Nationwide Series from 2007. Now, it has taken the name NASCAR XFINITY Series.
