Munster Rugby - Ireland's Red Army

To the brave and faithful, nothing is impossible
Formed in 1879, Munster Rugby spent the next century competing against fellow Irish provincial sides Leinster Rugby, Ulster Rugby and Connacht Rugby in the Irish Rugby Interprovincial Championship, as well as playing touring international teams such as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. After lifting their 22nd - and the final ever - IRFU championship title, Munster and their three rivals joined the Pro14, an annual league also featuring teams from South Africa, Scotland, Wales and Italy. The Red Army were crowned champions in its inaugural 2002-03 season and then again in 2009 and 2011. Since turning professional, Munster have also added the European Rugby Champions Cup, Celtic Cup and Setanta Challenge Cup to their trophy cabinet, while their Munster A team first lifted the British and Irish Cup in 2011. They have also continued to play international touring sides, beating both Australia and the Maori All Blacks at their Thomond Park home. As their motto states, "to the brave and faithful, nothing is impossible." You can buy Munster Rugby tickets for both home and away matches on StubHub.
One team, two grounds, thousands of passionate fans
Munster have two grounds to call home, the 25,600-capacity Thomond Park in Limerick and 9,500-capacity Irish Independent Park in Cork. The former, which is shared with fellow Limerick rugby clubs UL Bohemians R.F.C and Shannon RFC, is renowned for its highly unique atmosphere. Fans create deafeningly-loud noise during play, chanting the team's name and singing anthems such as Irish famine song "The Fields of Athenry," "Carmen Jones" musical number "Stand Up and Fight" and traditional folk tune "The Black Velvet Band," and then falling entirely silent whenever there's a goal kick attempt. Munster's fans are widely regarded as some of the most passionate in the game and have set record attendances in numerous competitions since the turn of the century, with an astonishing 82,000 turning up for their 2009 Heineken Cup semi-final encounter with local rivals Leinster. If you haven't yet experienced the joys of watching a rugby game at the vociferous Thomond Park, then check out the range of Munster Rugby tickets on offer at StubHub today.
