The idea for Message in a Bottle was to turn the hit songs of The Police into a slickly choreographed musical show, featuring one of the nation's top dance ensembles, the ZooNation Dance Company. Sting worked very closely with the choreographer and associate artist at the Sadler's Wells Company, Kate Prince, to reimagine his songs in dance form. Message in a Bottle has a loose plot, in the form of a small village under siege from unknown assailants. The result is that a family is torn apart, forcing three brothers and sisters to strike out separately on their own. It's a clear reference to war-torn countries and the hundreds of young refugees that they produce, and Sting has obviously made this the beacon that he wishes to highlight with this production.
