Drawn to the old time soft soul of the '50s and '60s, this aspiring artist found inspiration after first hearing Sam Cooke's 'A Change is Gonna Come' when watching Spike Lee's Malcolm X biopic. His curiosity got the better of him, resulting in hours spent scouring the internet for footage of classic blues, jazz and soul performances. Dressing in the style of his idols from a half a century past, their influences are reflected in his music too, which resuscitates the old sound for a new audience. In 2014, the singer was washing pots in a local Texan restaurant before he discovered a genre that inspired him to write.
