Josie Long Tickets
As seen on Stewart Lee's Alternative Comedy Experience on Comedy Central, Josie Long has established herself as one of Britain's funniest and smartest comedians. Mixing whimsical flights of fancy with searing political insight, she is a surprising, beguiling and brilliant performer. Do not miss a chance to pick up some Josie Long tickets and see this woman live.
Plot
Josie's most recent full-length show is Cara Josephine. Following 2013's Romance and Adventure, this show sees Josie in a reflective mood as she enters her 30s, and looking back on a life that has contained a lot of romantic disappointment. Intimate and hilarious, it tells the true story of one woman's ongoing search for true love, and includes an uproarious one-woman impression of the lives of all three Bronte sisters.
Schedule
You can catch Josie doing her stand-up set at the Latitude festival this summer, where she'll be headlining in the comedy tent. The Cara Josephine tour has just come to an end, following an outstanding world tour. It played to rave reviews in The Stand in Edinburgh during the Fringe, had a sell-out run in Soho Theatre in London, and was one of the highlights of the Melbourne Comedy Festival, where it played at The Supper Room. Keep your eyes peeled for Josie Long tickets when her new tour is announced.
Trivia
Josie Long's career started at the tender age of 16. A meteoric rise saw her through to the final of 1999's So You Think You're Funny competition. All finalists were brought up to Edinburgh for the Fringe and had to share a flat for the festival. That year's lie-up of hopefuls now reads like a who's who of British comedy: her flatmates in Edinburgh were Andy Zaltzman, David O'Doherty, Russell Howard and Jimmy Carr. O'Doherty ended up winning the competition, and he and Josie remain close friends.
Cast
There have been three distinct phases of Josie Long's career. When she first began to emerge in the noughties, she embodied a spirit of giddy inventiveness, and was hailed by The Guardian as the inventor of "DIY Comedy" for her use of hand-drawn illustrations in her show. A serious car crash around 2010, around the same time as the election of David Cameron, saw her become a more politically aware comic, who crusaded with groups like UK Uncut and used comedy as a form of protest. Current-day Josie is somewhere in between. Older and wiser, she writes very personal and emotional material that's still flippin' funny.
Original Author
Both Romance and Adventure and Cara Josephine are shows that have grown out of something that she has been working on for years. Initially, she made some short, self-funded movies about life, love and indie music, which developed into the BBC Radio 4 comedy-drama, Romance and Adventure. Her latest show drops all the pretense and finds Josie looking deep inside herself. In the end, she offers hope and optimism to her audience, as well as a lot of laughter.
Producers
Josie is famous for her DIY spirit, even hand-drawing her own fanzines which she sells at shows. Everything you see when you buy Josie Long tickets is produced, written and directed by the woman herself, straight from her brain to yours. The radio series that influenced the live show was produced by BBC stalwart Colin Anderson.
