Hip-hop and rap phenomenon Jon Bellion is a self-made music star who launched his own career via Facebook. At only 25 years old, Bellion has released several mixtapes that have changed the landscape of the R&B world. With influences in indie rock, rap, and R&B, the Long Island-born Bellion is quickly making a name for himself as one of the world's most innovative music makers.
This year, Jon Bellion is taking his music out of the recording studio and onto the stages of venues across the United States. Bellion will kick off his "The Definition Tour" at the Amsterdam Bar and Hall in St. Paul, MN. From there, he will continue to Santa Ana, California, Detroit, Michigan, and Chicago, Illinois. Next, people will be able to get Jon Bellion tickets in Cleveland, Ohio, Boston, Massachusetts, and New York, New York, before he finishes up his travels in Atlanta, Georgia and San Diego, California.
Jon Bellion did not always know that he wanted to be a musician. In fact, during high school, Bellion was pretty sure he was going to become a professional athlete. Until his junior year of high school, Bellion focused on basketball and hoped to play at a higher level some day. After his junior year, however, Bellion's focus shifted to music.
Jon Bellion is one of the rare music phenomenons that got his start on the Internet. He released his first mixtape that got him attention via Facebook, and from there, he was quickly signed to Visionary Music Group. Bellion has made a career creating mixtapes and releasing them to the public. However, he has also been discovered for his songwriting talent, being hired to collaborate with greats like Eminem and Rihanna; he wrote the chorus to their song, "The Monster". According to Bellion, some of the most famous hip-hop artists in the world are his inspiration, including Kanye and Andre 3000. But he has been able to combine his love for indie music and rock to create a sound all his own.
Bellion made it big by releasing his first mixtape, Scattered Thoughts Vol. 1 on his Facebook page. More than 11,000 people downloaded the album, which was a huge number for a relatively unknown artist. However, once Bellion signed with Visionary Music Group, he gained even more fame, and shot to notoriety when he released a cover of Drake's "The Motto," which his label posted on their YouTube page. The artist reached the peak of his fame, however, when he collaborated with Eminem and Rihanna, and he has continued to build a music career out of collaborations and solo work since then.
Jon Bellion's first hit was his cover of "The Motto,' which Visionary Music Group supported via social media. However, Bellion has also had chart success with several of his other works. His songs "All Time Low", "Woodstock", "Human", "Simple and Sweet", and "Munny Right" all charted on Billboard's Twitter Emerging Artists Chart. His chorus for Eminem and Rihanna's "The Monster" also received both popular and critical acclaim.
Bellion is an excellent rapper, so during much of a Jon Bellion concert, expect fans to be up on their feet, dancing and rapping along with the artist. During Bellion's slower, more quiet works, expect to see fans sitting back in awe, watching Bellion do his work.
