Jamie XX Tickets - Jamie XX Tour
Jamie XX Tickets
You'd think that being a key member of one of the most beloved indie bands of his time would be enough, but that's not the case with Jamie XX. When he's not busy being The xx's resident keyboard genius, he's off on his own building his career as one of the best remixers in the business.Schedule
Jamie's summer schedule has him popping up at various festivals, where he has a tendency to completely steal the show from more established acts, like he did at the Forbidden Fruit festival in Ireland. Some select UK dates are planned for his solo shows, so you'll need to move fast if you want to get your hands on Jamie XX tickets. He'll be performing in London at the O2 Academy, Glasgow at The Arches, and Manchester at Albert Hall.
Trivia
Jamie is one of the youngest people to have won the coveted Mercury Award for best album. The self-titled debut album by The xx scooped the prize in 2010, when Jamie was a mere lad of 22. It was one of many accolades awarded to an album universally praised by critics. So how did such a young band manage to create such a sophisticated record on their first attempt? It may have something to do with the school they attended, Elliot School in Putney, which has produced other cutting-edge bands such as Hot Chip and Four Tet. There's clearly something in the cafeteria food.
Singer
Around the time that The xx were breaking through, Jamie did a few high-profile remixes on the side, including tracks by Jack Peñate and Florence And The Machine. The success of those mixes in combination with the zeitgeist-shattering coolness of The xx created a huge demand for his services, with musicians such as Radiohead, Adele and Eliza Doolittle queuing up to see what he could make of their original compositions.
Breakthrough
Gil Scott-Heron, best known for his hit single 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised', has always been a huge influence on Jamie XX. So when he was approached by XL Recordings to remix the entirety of Gil's latest album, he jumped at the chance. The result was 2011's We're New Here, officially listed as a collaboration between Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie XX. The album was another critical smash, making the Albums Of The Year list in Uncut magazine.
Hit Albums
2015 saw the release of Jamie's first full solo album, In Colour. Building on his previous work, he describes it as the sound of an idealised version of a 90s rave. Once again, it was a critical smash hit, with both Pitchfork and NME giving it 9/10 and praising its innovation. It's been a notable commercial success in Ireland, reaching #4 in the album charts and #1 in the Indy charts, with a live performance that has already become the stuff of legend.
Show Experience
When you get your hands on Jamie XX tickets, you better be ready to dance. Jamie is so much more than a DJ; he's a man with an almost supernatural understanding of the inner workings of dance music and its complex history. Expect a tour of the history of big beats, from 90s rave to modern breaks, all played with intelligence and wit. Expect to dance. Expect to sweat.
