Having failed his A-levels, the young Bromley-born funnyman didn't find his calling until reaching his mid 20s. Getting by working as a waiter and taking odd jobs, his interest in performing was piqued during a trip to London's famous Comedy Store, where he signed up for an mic slot on a whim. After a successful show, he was hooked - and he would soon make a name for himself on the circuit with his sarcastic quips and fixed frown.

By the early '90s Dee had become a remarkable success, winning the British Comedy Award for best Newcomer in 1991 and seeing Jack Dee tickets soar in demand.
