Indianapolis Colts Playoff TicketsIndianapolis Colts home games are played in Indianapolis, Ind., at Lucas Oil Stadium, which is also used for many other sporting events. The Colts have a colorful history, starting with an All-America Football Conference (AAFC) franchise awarded to Baltimore in 1947. The team, in its various manifestations, has won three NFL championships and two Super Bowls, and it can claim football greats such as Johnny Unitas and Peyton Manning as its own. In 2018, in head coach Frank Reich’s first season, the Colts started with a 1-5 record but managed to turn the season around, ending up with a 10-6 record. The turnaround helped the Colts become one of only a few teams in league history to start a season with a losing record and succeed in playing in and winning a playoff game at the end of the season. What is the history of the Indianapolis Colts? The Indianapolis Colts' history actually involves the football franchises of other cities. In 1953, Baltimore received an NFL franchise for the Colts, which was the name of an All-America Football Conference team from 1947. In 1950, the AAFC and NFL reached an agreement, and the Colts became an NFL team. Unfortunately, the franchise failed, and the team was disbanded the same year. However, in 1953, a new franchise was awarded to Baltimore. The Colts had much success, winning two NFL titles in the late 1950s, but changed owners several times. In 1972, Robert Irsay became the owner. By 1984, the team's stadium needed work, and the city of Baltimore and the Maryland legislature were talking about taking the team away from Irsay by eminent domain. Irsay made a deal with Indianapolis and moved the team out of Baltimore overnight in March of 1984. The team was fairly successful, competing in three postseason games over the next 13 years. The Peyton Manning era began in 1998.

The NFL 101 Awards named him the 2018 AFC Coach of the Year, and the Colts were one of four teams to be in the top 10 category of both offensive points per game and defensive points allowed per game.
