The Patrick J. Kelly Cup is the ECHL’s championship award given to the winning team of the playoff game in a best of seven series. Originally called the Riley Cup after Jack Riley, a former president in the American Hockey League, the cup was renamed to the Kelly Cup in 1997 after Patrick J. Kelly, the first commissioner of the ECHL. The Kelly Cup saw controversy during the 2018-2019 season when the Colorado Eagles refused to return the trophy in a timely fashion and it had to be replaced so the Newfoundland Growlers could have a championship cup before opening night.Back to TopEpic events and incredible deals straight to your inbox.
