Happy Mondays 2017 Tour
Despite enjoying only a short time in the spotlight, psychedelic rock act Happy Mondays have secured a lasting legacy that few acts manage to attain. Famous for fronting the dance-infected Madchester scene, this ethereal outfit were a colourful antidote to the dreamy but distant shoegaze subgenre of alternative rock that saturated the charts in the late 1980s.
Catchy, party anthems like "Step On" and "Kinky Afro" captured the imaginations of a generation, inspiring all the iconic Britpop bands that came afterwards. Shaun Ryder, Bez and co. have recently confirmed their 2017 anniversary tour, celebrating 10 years since Uncle Dysfunktional, their last album to date. Make sure you're there to witness the reincarnation of this truly iconic album and purchase Happy Mondays tickets on StubHub UK.
Happy Mondays Biography
British music owes a lot to this much loved Manchester dance act. Forming in the late 1980s, Shaun Ryder's eclectic alternative group were the first to blend swirling, psychedelic 1970s soul with the sounds of increasingly popular house music. Providing a more hedonistic alternative to fellow Mancunian act The Stone Roses, the band spearheaded a generation of excess and musical creativity. Their bright, trippy melodies provided the soundtrack to the early 1990s rave scene, with the band becoming infamous for their twisted lyrics and surreal live performances.
The 1988 sophomore album Bummed helped the band acquire a large following, but their legendary third album Pill 'n' Thrills and Bellyaches is the record that made the act one for the history books. Crammed with vivid anthems including the unmistakable 'Step On' and clubland staple 'Kinky Afro', the 1990 album helped Ryder and the group's full-time dancer Bez become British superstars.
Several successful comebacks and their 2007 album Uncle Dysfunktional, and the Happy Mondays would cement their legacy in recent years. In 2017, the band will light up stages once more celebrating their 10th anniversary since their last album Uncle Dysfunctional. Experience the euphoric sounds of this fan-favourite album performed in its entirety when you purchase Happy Mondays tickets on StubHub UK.
