Hammerfall play classic heavy metal with a very strong touch of the more hardcore versions of the genre that have emerged from their native Sweden. They hark back to the early 1990s, when they were formed out of the ashes of Ceremonial Oath, an extreme metal band that featured guitarist Oscar Dronjak, who is the centrepiece of this outfit. They play power metal along the lines of Napalm Death, with plenty of influences from the classic British wave of metal in the 1980s. This gives them strong melodic as well as rhythmic underpinnings, making them a favourite with metal fans across the board in Europe. You can buy or sell your Hammerfall tickets on StubHub.
Hammerfall was formed when Dronjak recruited fellow Ceremonial Oath member, and former member of the highly successful Swedish metal act, In Flames to work with him on a new band he was interested in forming on the Swedish metal scene. Others were recruited from various bands around Gothenburg, but before they could really get going their other bands took off – In Flames became well-known, as did another band that members played in, Dark Tranquility. To make matters worse, their bassist was also committed to death metal band Dispatched. This meant that the new band was an old band before they finally got around to recording and releasing albums, and performing under their new name. They tooled around their home town, mostly playing Judas Priest and Alice Cooper covers for a while, until they entered the Rockslaget band competition, where they reached the semi-finals, and decided to take up the band in earnest. The result is the glorious power metal that you can hear with Hammerfall tickets that you can get right here.
Hammerfall finally recruited the last solid piece in their particular puzzle when they attracted drummer Magnus Rosén, who had worked on the first Yngwie Malmsteen album "Rising Force", thus instantly earning himself legendary status in the Scandinavian metal community. The band began playing all the big metal festivals in Europe and had several hugely successful appearances at places like the Wacken Open Air festival, which they used as the triumphant culmination of their first full European tour, attracting an audience of over 10,000 fans at the legendary festival. They won the Metal Hammer "Maximum Metal" award in 2015, and gathered an international following for themselves thanks to album distribution across the world, courtesy of Napalm Records. This has put them in the big league of modern metal bands, a far cry from the cover versions they hammered out for fun in the beginning.
