Ghost - Papa Emeritus and His Ghouls Announce One-Off Show in London
This Swedish heavy metal group are famed for their eccentric live performances, donning face-concealing costumes and portraying characters that change with every album. The band have had three singers, with each going under the name of Papa Emeritus, appearing as a 'demonic anti-pope' alongside his nameless ghouls. Despite finding the majority of their success in Sweden, with two Grammis Award winning albums to their name as well as two number one records domestically, 2015 LP Meliora also saw the group achieve a number eight spot in the US, proving their increasing international popularity. Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters fame is known to be a big fan, having produced a number of the band's tracks, and is rumoured to have donned a ghoul costume and performed in secret alongside them on a few occasions. Pick up Ghost tickets now on StubHub UK to experience this unique act live when they play a one-off show in London this March.
Ghost Biography - Swedish Heavy Metal Group Release Meliora
Initially coming together in 2006, the band used their love for horror films and Scandinavian metal to merge a horror show format with music. One of their major characteristics as a group is anonymity; none of the five ghouls have ever been named and the vocalist is only known as Papa Emeritus - though there have reportedly been three incarnations to date, each earning infamy for their satanic anti-pope image. In October 2010, debut album Opus Eponymous came out to a positive reception, leading to a Best Hard Rock Album nomination at the 2011 Grammis Awards, and their UK live debut at the annual Download Festival. They've since gained popularity in America too, embarking on the '13 Dates of Doom' tour in 2012 whilst also starting work on their new album.
Papa Emeritus II and his ghouls released second album Infestissumam in 2013 and changed their name, adding B.C. for legal reasons. The record would see them secure their first number one in Sweden, with extra track 'Year Zero' made available to fans who agreed to back the election of the band's frontman to become the next Pope of the Catholic Church via Facebook. The rest of the year would see them support Iron Maiden and Slayer on tour and release a further EP If You Have Ghost, produced by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl. Third LP release Meliora has proven to be their most successful to date, and signals a new era for the band with Papa Emeritus III at the helm - notably different to his predecessor with a slicked-back hair style and no trademark mitre. The group returns to the UK in March 2016 for a one-off show at London's Palladium, so grab your Ghost tickets from StubHub UK now to make sure you don't miss out.
