Gerry Cinnamon Tickets
A former winner of the Scottish Alternative Music Awards in the Best Live Act category, Gerry Cinnamon is a singer, songwriter and guitarist. Previously performing with his band, The Cinnamons, the singer is now a solo performer in his own right. Some Scottish music critics have described Cinnamon as putting on live shows that are 'infamous' for their atmosphere and the loud volume of the music.
Citing the likes of Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan and the Jesus and Mary Chain as among his early influences, the rock and pop singer also claims that Pink Floyd, Beck, and Willy Mason have been inspirations. At times, he emulates the soul sounds of greats such as Sam Cooke or Otis Redding, as well as country rock performers such as Neil Young. Cinnamon's sound, though it is undeniably derived from some of the leading artists of the 20th century, on both sides of the Atlantic, is very much his own. Despite its retro vibe, the singer is very much a part of what makes Scottish popular music so vibrant in the early part of the 21st century.
Gerry Cinnamon's critical praise
Among Cinnamon's most widely praised performances was a gig he undertook at Glasgow's famous T in the Park festival. Playing on the Break Stage in the early afternoon, Cinnamon performed in front of a very large crowd, many of whom joined in with the singer's rabble-rousing choruses. Singing songs that he had been doing the rounds with across the city for a few years, tracks such as “Discoland” were belted out with little more than an acoustic guitar for accompaniment. Thanks to the unprecedented number of festivalgoers who turned out for him, many in the music press began to take notice of Cinnamon's songwriting for the first time, realising that the artist had built up a considerable following.
Following the critically acclaimed performance at T in the Park, Cinnamon fulfilled a boyhood dream of playing at the world-famous King Tuts Wah Wah Tent, an ambition he achieved in July of 2016. Critics were equally impressed by this performance as well as his much-vaunted headline slot at the smaller but no less important Goil Festival. Both concerts had been taken on by the young performer despite the singer having received no nationwide airplay ever before on TV or radio.
