G Dragon: K-Pop superstar plays first UK gigs in Birmingham and London this September
Finding international fame as part of the South Korean hip hop group Big Bang, G Dragon is credited as being one of the finest singer-songwriters in Asian history. He has written a total of 23 number one singles and achieved two solo number one albums in his home country; been hailed as a "genius" by the Korean media; and was recently listed as the most influential person under 30 in Asian entertainment by Forbes.
After the release of his self-titled 2017 EP Kwon Ji Yong (his real name), the K-Pop megastar has announced details of his first ever solo headline shows in the UK; much to the delight of British fans. G Dragon will perform at Birmingham on Saturday 23 September before heading to Wembley the following day (Sunday 24 September) as part of his Act III: M.O.T.T.E 'Moment of Truth The End' world tour.
His first solo world tour – One of A Kind in 2013 – was seen by more than 570,000 fans at 27 shows in 13 cities, across eight countries; meaning tickets are likely to be in high demand. So make sure you don't miss out – grab your G Dragon tickets at StubHub today.
G Dragon: huge demand to see star after first release for almost four years
As his first solo work since 2013's Coup d'Etat, the release of 2017's Kwon Ji Yong was much anticipated by G Dragon fans. Hailed by critics as his most honest work so far, it's unsurprising that the Act III: M.O.T.T.E tour is set to be the largest tour by a Korean artist in the United States and Europe, and the largest concert tour ever conducted by a Korean solo artist.
In South Korea, ticket sales for the concert sold out in eight minutes; with an audience of 40,000 gathering at the sold-out show in Seoul. That gig alone raised almost £3 million in ticket sales.
In Japan, both Tokyo shows have sold out as G Dragon becomes the first foreign solo artist to hold a dome tour for the second time in the country. A total of 260,000 Japanese fans are expected to attend G Dragon's five tour dates, while due to the high demand in the country as a whole, the final concert in Japan (Tokyo Dome on September 20) will be aired live in more than 100 theatres across the country. Both concerts in Macau also sold out within minutes.
