Florida Gators Tickets
The Florida Gators football team was first established under the leadership of head coach Jack Forsythe in 1906. After brief sojourns through the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association and the Southern Conference, Florida finally settled on its current home, the Southeastern Conference, in 1933. Florida would have periods of intermittent success over the decades, but the hiring of head coach and former player Steve Spurrier in 1990 propelled the team to an unprecedented period of national prominence, which culminated with a national title in 1996. Following Spurrier’s departure to the Washington Redskins, Florida won two more national championships in 2006 and 2008 under head coach Urban Meyer. If you are a fan of the Florida Gators football team, then you can purchase tickets to a live event at StubHub.
Where do the Florida Gators play?
Florida has played at the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, also known as The Swamp, since 1930. Located on the school’s Gainesville campus, the stadium has an official seating capacity of 88,548, though the record attendance stands at 90,916. The stadium was originally known as Florida Field, but the university changed the name in 1989 to reflect the contributions of major benefactor and businessman Ben Hill Griffin. Both standard seating and premium seating are available. Premium seats include the Evans Champions Club and the Holloway Touchdown Terrace.
What is a Florida Gators game like?
A Florida Gators game offers plenty for fans to experience. Before kickoff, fans can visit the Gators Fan Fest for free to experience games, contests, giveaways and interactive displays. Fans can also support the team around 2.5 hours before kickoff with the Gator Walk near the north end of the stadium. During the game, fans will enjoy the collegiate atmosphere with the cheerleading squad and the Gators marching band.
How is the tailgating scene at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium?
Tailgating is permitted in designated spots. This includes the area in front of or behind your vehicle and open grass areas in non-reserved lots. Special tailgating events are also available around the stadium for anyone who reserves their spots ahead of time. Setup can begin around 6 a.m. on the day of the game. The atmosphere should be festive and fun. However, tailgaters are expected to follow the university tailgating policies. Tents and canopies must be secured and not impede traffic. Fans are also expected to clean up after themselves once they are finished. Large cookers, portable generators and company signage must be approved by university staff before the game day.
Who are the Florida Gator’s biggest rivals?
Though they play in different conferences, Florida and Florida State share a natural rivalry due to their proximity and history. During the 1990s, when Steve Spurrier and Bobby Bowden coached their respective teams, the rivalry was at its most intense. The winner of the game would frequently play for the national championship. Florida shares another state rivalry with the University of Miami. When Florida, Florida State and Miami play in the same year, the winner of the three-way matchup is awarded the Florida Cup. Florida also has prominent conference rivalries with Georgia, Tennessee and LSU.
