Experience the thrill of F1 Germany
Germany has a rich tradition of auto making so it's no surprise that auto racing has been held there since the 1920s. Over the decades some of the most luminous names in Formula One have claimed the title en route to the drivers' championship. F1 Germany tickets are ready now to buy or sell via StubHub.
The origins of racing in Germany
In Germany, Grand Prix auto racing officially started in 1929 even though organised racing goes back more than twenty years earlier there with twin races that were sanctioned by the German royal family: the Kaiserpreis race held near Frankfurt and Prinz-Heinrich-Fahrt. When Nurburgring was built to host the races they were more endurance tests (28 kilometres) than the much shorter circuit races that have since evolved (4.5 kilometres). Those pre-World War II races were dominated by Alfa Romeo and Mercedes -Benz and witnessed racing legends like Rudolph Caracciola who would win a record six titles. F1 Germany joins Formula One British Grand Prix, Monaco Grand Prix and Belgian Grand Prix as other Grands Prix contested in Europe. The post-war years saw major structural changes to the Nurburgring course but it remained a particularly challenging course and saw its fair share of horrific accidents such as Niki Lauda's 1976 crash that almost claimed his life. Other notable editions include the 1981 race which saw Brazilian Nelson Piquet claiming victory after an exciting battle between himself, Australian Alan Jones and Frenchman Alain Prost. Anything is possible on race day. F1 Germany tickets are available now for purchase or sale via StubHub.
Enjoy Grand Prix weekend in Germany
The Hockenheim circuit has witnessed some legendary finishes to an F1 race like the 1986 edition where Nelson Piquet, Aryton Senna and Alain Prost were all running on empty towards the end of the race which Piquet won. The decade of the 1990s would be a dream come true for German fans when native son Michael Schumacher would become only the second German to win his home title in 1995, the first of four he would claim on his way to a record seven world championship titles. Formula One weekend in Germany always promises to be an attractive affair especially given the domination by Mercedes-Benz over the last few years as of this writing, a huge delight to a nation proud of it automotive and racing heritage. Despite organisational issues the race continues to generate excitement among fans from practice rounds through qualifying leading up to race day and the fight to the finish line.
