The golden-voiced crooner was born in Madras, India in 1936 before moving to Leicester and performing on the club scene as a young man. His debut single 'I'll Never Fall in Love Again' came out in 1958 but didn't enjoy success until the mid-1960s, initially in Belgium.
In 1967 he enjoyed one of his biggest hits with his version of the 1946 standard 'Release Me', and during the 1970s his star rose as he collaborated with the likes of The Bee Gees' Barry and Maurice Gibb. He continued to tour heavily into the 1980s and in 1989 was given a star on the Hollywood Hall of Fame and embraced new challenges such as recording a song called 'Lesbian Seagull' for goofball comedy film Beavis and Butt-Head do America, in 1996.
In 2012 he became the oldest singer to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest, representing Great Britain at the grand age of 76. In 2014 the vocalist released Engelbert Calling, an album of duets with the likes of Elton John, Lulu and Willy Nelson.
He's enjoyed an incredible career so far but it's far from over yet - so come and see a living legend by buying your Engelbert Humperdinck tickets on StubHub UK, the world's largest ticketing marketplace.
