A venue bursting with history
The Caves is truly a unique venue that makes up a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s restored brick tunnels and interlocking vaults create a stunning atmosphere that blends the old with the new in a timeless fashion. It’s also incredibly Scottish - perhaps more so than any other venue in the country. At one point in time, there was so much whiskey stored there that it was known as ‘Whiskey Row’! Each one of its rooms has its own distinct past, from being used as stables for the French Cavalry to home dwellings of times that pre-date the bridge sitting above. You can even still see the original terracotta flooring, fully intact. After more than 100 years of being hidden, the old Edinburgh vaults were rediscovered and marvellously restored into this wonderful venue whilst preserving and respecting the history of the city. This architectural gem makes attracts some of the finest artists across house and techno as well as cutting edge singer-songwriters and indie/rock bands.
