Dierks Bentley - Country Star Announces 2016 UK Tour Dates
New album Black is the most candid yet from this country star, who has been a mainstay in the Nashville music scene since he released his eponymous debut back in 2003 and saw lead single 'What Was I Thinkin' hit the number one spot. The artist reflects on romantic themes in the new record, from the loneliness of an impossible relationship to the moment you find the one that makes all the heartbreak seem worthwhile - a direct reference to his wife of ten years. Lead single 'Somewhere on a Beach' starts the narrative and landed in the top 20 of the country charts, foreshadowing the intriguingly dark sound of the LP. Dierks Bentley Biography - Black
Despite growing up in a non-musical family, this aspiring artist pursued his love for country music throughout his teens and moved to Nashville at 19 years of age. After jamming throughout the night with the local patrons at a bluegrass joint, he was inspired to start gigging, but it took time and graft to make his name. He spent days working at The Nashville Network TV station researching old performances, but honed his own craft in the evenings, eventually finding the exposure he was looking for. Signing to Capitol Nashville, he released his debut self-titled album in 2003 and lead single 'What Was I Thinkin'' went straight to the top of the country charts. After just two years, he was awarded one of the most coveted accolades in Nashville with a place in the Grand Ole Opry and a CMA for best new artist. After that, the hits just kept on coming. 'Come A Little Closer' and 'Settle for a Slowdown' from sophomore effort Modern Day Drifter each hit the top spot in country airplay charts, as did 'Every Mile a Memory' and 'Free and Easy (Down the Road I Go)' from third album Long Trip Alone, and fourth LP Feel That Fire saw the title track and 'Sideways' each match the feat too.
Now an established name in the country scene, his loyal fans lapped up following records Up on the Ridge, Home and Riser too, appreciating his traditional approach to writing, with the latter including a touching tribute to his late father in 'I Hold On'. New LP Black acts as a reflection on relationships, from the heart-wrenching complexities to all the beautiful simplicity at their core. To celebrate the eighth studio album release of a remarkable career, he comes to the UK to play a select number of live dates.
