Live Fast, Die Happy
The band were formed in the German city of Ulm in 1993 with three musicians—Thorsten Mewes, Julian Rosenthal and Marcus Heinzmann—auditioning a number of singers to front the group. Czech singer Marta Jandová immediately stood out, a former USA exchange student with a powerful voice and stage presence. By 2004 the band were already performing their first live gigs and developing a reputation in the underground music scene. They recorded their first EP later that year, "Better Than Nothing", and followed up with their debut album "Dirty Flowers" which they independently released in 1996. With an established fan base, the band began to catch the attention of record labels after performing at the Rockstiftung competition for unsigned bands in 1998, eventually making their debut on a major label in 2001—after a few changes in the line-up—with the album ‘Supersonic Speed’. Known for their thrilling live shows, you can book your place at an upcoming gig by securing your Die Happy tickets today or putting any extra tickets up for sale with StubHub!
Leading the alternative German sound
In 2002 the band released ‘Beautiful Morning’, an album which charted in both Germany and neighbouring Austria—this led to the group travelling to Los Angeles in the following year to work with prestigious production team, The Matrix, responsible for writing and recording hit records from the likes of Korn, Shakira, and Tokio Hotel. This collaboration resulted in their 2003 album ‘The Weight of the Circumstances’, which became their biggest commercial success to date and was accompanied by a DVD release of their spectacular live show. Later releases continued to establish the band’s reputation both domestically and internationally, including the live album ‘Four And More’ (2005) and their greatest hits ‘Most Wanted’ (2009). The band has gone on to perform hundreds of shows around the globe, selling out some of the world’s biggest venues in the process and becoming known for thrilling live performances.
