Danzig Biography - Marching on From the Misfits

After making his name with horror-punk heroes the Misfits in the 1970s, Glenn Danzig put together a new project in the mid-'80s after meeting Def Records rep and producer Rick Rubin. Insisting that the bassist in his previous band Samhain join him, the singer recruited more members and his eponymous new group was formed. Their first wave of success came in 1993 when one of their earlier singles, 'Mother', became an unexpected hit on hard rock radio and MTV. 2009 saw the group reach new heights when 'Thirteen' was chosen to play during the opening titles of Blockbuster hit The Hangover. Its success saw them record a new single, 'Black Hell', for the movie's sequel in 2011. The group were also recruited to perform at Download Festival during the same year, when the heavy rock quartet played alongside the likes of System of a Down and Rob Zombie.

Having recently celebrated their 25th anniversary tour, the band has delighted fans by once again returning to the live stage. Their performances are unparalleled in their intensity, with their muscular frontman mixing distorted guitars and propulsive drums with his almost otherworldly screams.
