The team was able to finish first in the conference standings last season, as they did not lose a single game in the regular season. Their 5-0-1 record showed the dominance of the Blitz, and fans had a great time seeing their favorite LFL team showcase their skills. The Blitz took on the Los Angeles Temptation in the first round of the playoffs, and it was not the blowout that some expected.
Los Angeles hung in there for a while, but Chicago ultimately took home the win by a score of 19-12. The Conference Championship pitted the Blitz against the Seattle Mist in Ontario, CA, and this game saw the real potency of the Chicago offense. The Blitz notched 31 points in the contest to take down the Mist, who only managed to score 14 in the game. Chicago then advanced to the Legends Cup game, where they found themselves matched up against the Philadelphia Passion. This was a highly-touted matchup that occurred at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, and the Blitz did not disappoint. They scored early and often on their way to a staggering 38 points in the game, defeating the Passion by a count of 38-14. It was a dominant season from the Blitz, and they are back in 2015 ready to make another run at the Legends Cup. Legends Football League was founded in 2003 as the Lingerie Football League but changed its name in 2013. The season runs in the spring and summer and the teams play in MLS, NFL, NHL, and NBA arenas. Currently there are six teams in the LFL. The Eastern Conference is made up of the Atlanta Steam, the Chicago Blitz, and the Omaha Heart, while the Western Conference consists of the Las Vegas Sin, the Los Angeles Temptation, and the Seattle Mist. The league traces its roots to what was once a halftime entertainment program during the Super Bowl but then became a full-fledged league. These days the LFL continues to grow in popularity with plans for expansion franchises in other cities.
Chicago Blitz Toyota Park
Toyota Park is a soccer stadium in Chicago, Illinois that serves as the home field for the LFL's Chicago Blitz as well as Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire. It opened in 2006 and holds 20,000 fans for soccer matches and 28,000 for concerts. In addition to Fire home games, Toyota Park hosts rugby matches, and international soccer games. While the Lingerie Bowl was still in existence the Chicago Blitz reached the Eastern Finals in consecutive years, in 2005 and 2006 but lost to the New York Euphoria both times and never reached the championship game.
