Smoldering soul from Brooklyn-based Cautious Clay
Until dropping his phenomenal debut single 'Cold War' on various online platforms under the name Cautious Clay, Joshua Karpeh was working as an estate agent in the big apple. The track blew up (thank goodness - for his sake and ours!) and the singer was able to focus on music full time. Check out his EP 'Blood Type' and then use StubHub to buy or sell Cautious Clay tickets today, you won't regret it!
Production prowess to song writing success
Growing up in Cleveland, Ohio, Karpeh was introduced to music through his early infatuation with the flute. After a classical education, he became "that flute-playing guy" in various bands he formed with friends. Karpeh also excelled in other areas, such as athletics, sailing and running. He thanks his parents for a rounded set of skills, as well as an excellent taste in music. Influences range from Quincy Jones and Earth, Wind and Fire to Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell. He began applying his interest in music to production, remixing well-known songs and creating his own obscure, crazy beats and sounds. Song writing came later, after a remix of the Billie Eilish track 'Ocean Eyes' caught the attention of the electropop megastar and the pair began a working relationship. Describing his song writing style, Karpeh claims to work in a lyrical and melodic stream of consciousness, before heading to the studio to put his uniquely balanced blend of textures and sounds into the mix. Check out the euphoric 'Joshua Tree' and 'Call Me' for some prime examples of the work of Cautious Clay. You can also buy or sell Cautious Clay tickets right here on StubHub!
Early recognition from international stars
Since its release, 'Cold War' has garnered over 20 million online plays and the following EPs, 'Blood Type' and 'Resonance', continue to solidify the identity the singer has been working towards. Cautious Clay went on to tour the US and record a track with American icon John Mayer. He also performed an NPR Tiny Desk gig to a sold-out crowd in Washington, as well as 2018's TIDAL X Brooklyn show at the 19,000 capacity Barclays Center, a whole other kind of real estate from what he was used to two years earlier! With fans such as Zane Lowe and Khaled, you know you're in for a treat with this one!
