Cast - New Album and Tour Set for 2016

This Liverpudlian group broke their hiatus in 2010 for a well-received reunion, and are working on their first new material in four years. Often heralded as 'The Who of the '90s', John Power and his bandmates reinvigorated their sound in the last few years to the delight of fans new and old, bringing out Troubled Times in 2012. Now twenty years on from the release of breakthrough record All Change, the group have announced a new LP, released in March 2016. Cast Biography - Liverpudlian Leaders of Britpop

After the disbandment of previous outfit The La's, John Power brought together a new band, emerging towards the end of the '90s Brit pop movement. Recruiting bassist Pete Wilkinson of Shack, drummer Keith O'Neill and guitarist Liam 'Skin' Tyson, the indie act secured support slots with the likes of Elvis Costello and Oasis within months of their formation, and signed with Polydor Records in 1994. Adding a modern twist to early '60s pop, they released their first two singles 'Finetime' and 'Alright' within months of each other - both securing the group top 20 spots in the UK charts. Outselling the likes of The Who and The Jam, their debut album All Change was an incredible success, shooting to number seven in the charts just three years after their formation.

After standalone single 'Flying' brought them a first five hit, the group's second album Mother Nature took them in a rockier direction, drawing inspiration from the genius of the Rolling Stones. The record was moody, melancholic and truly resonated with the culture of the late '90s, spawning three top ten singles in 'Free Me', 'Guiding Star' and 'Live the Dream'. Power's tongue in cheek approach to songwriting ensured this album in particular unearthed more and more hidden moments of genius after multiple listens, rewarding fans who put in the effort. As the Britpop movement began to die down, Power and friends evolved again for third album Magic Hour, adding in guitar loops and samples. However, unable to truly ride the pop wave sweeping the nation, the Liverpool group released 2001 LP Beetroot then called it a day.

While Power had found success as a solo artist, 2010 brought about press rumours of his old band's reunion. The stories proved true, and the group reunited for a UK tour to mark the 15th anniversary of All Change, which went down a treat with audiences. That encouraged the boys to forge ahead with a new record, Troubled Times.
