Capital City Classic TicketsThe first Capital City Classic hockey tournament took place in Trenton, NJ, in 2015. Teams from the reputable Princeton, Yale, Maine and UMass university teams arrived for a weekend of daily double-header matches. The October event spanned the entire Halloween weekend at the Sun National Bank Center in Trenton. The tournament was a two-day event. On the first day, UMass beat Maine and Yale beat Princeton to advance to the championship game. Yale won the final game and the overall tournament. The venue has since changed its name to the CURE Insurance Arena. In addition to hosting the Capital City Classic games, the venue also hosts the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball regional championships. The arena has seating for 10,000 guests. However, when hockey games are hosted, seating for spectators is 8,100. What is the history of the Princeton Tigers hockey?The Princeton Tigers hockey team has been in existence since 1900. However, the Capital City Classic game participant did not get its first coach until 1921. The members of the Tigers play home games at the Hobey Baker Memorial Arena. During the team's career, it won only three Conference Tournament Championships. However, from 1932 through 1948, five players represented the United States Hockey Team in the Olympics. From 1970 to 2019, 16 former Princeton Tigers were drafted onto NHL teams. Princeton University also has a women's hockey team.
What is the history of the Yale Bulldogs hockey team?As the team dates back to 1893, Yale Bulldogs is considered the oldest existing team in college ice hockey. The Bulldogs' home games are played at Ingalls Rink. The team's impressive statistics include one NCAA Tournament Championships, two Conference Tournament Championships, three Conference Regular Season Championships and 13 Ivy League Regular Season Championships. The Bulldogs has also been awarded dozens of commemorations that include the Spencer Penrose Award, the ECAC Sportsmanship Trophy, MVP, players of the year and All-American player recognition.
What is the UMass hockey team's history?The UMass Minutemen joined the ranks of collegiate hockey teams in 1909. A pond located in the heart of the campus once served as the team's home game location. In later years, the Minutemen was able to move to the Mullins Center. The team has one Conference Tournament Championship and one Conference Regular Season Championship to its credit. Seven former Minutemen were drafted into the NHL. The Hobey Baker Memorial Award and the Spencer Penrose Award are among the team's many commendations.
What is the history of the University of Maine's team?The University of Maine developed its men's ice hockey team in 1977, which was under the direction of Coach Jack Semler. Since that time, the Black Bears won two NCAA Tournament Championships, five Conference Tournament Championships and three Conference Regular Season Championships. From 1988 to 2017, 21 former Maine Black Bear players were inducted into the Maine Sports Hall of Fame. Fifty-five former players were drafted onto NHL teams.
