A history as dramatic as a theatre production
After its opening in 1924, numerous performers came through the doors of this venue, including the 1920s jazz icon Louise Brooks. It is she who was credited with bringing the Charleston to London during her time at Café de Paris in 1924. Guests like the Aga Khan and the then Prince of Wales would come to enjoy a night out at the café. Then, in World War II, tragedy struck as the café was bombed during one of Germany’s nightly onslaughts. Over thirty people were killed and many were injured, and it wasn’t until 1948 that the venue reopened. When it did, however, it quickly became one of the most popular venues in London. Well into the 21st century the café remained one of the premier spots in London, known for hosting cabaret nights, club nights and more. If you want to find yourself at this iconic venue, make sure you search for Café de Paris tickets on StubHub to get your tickets to an upcoming event.
Standing up to the competition
Situated just off Leicester Square near the Prince of Wales Theatre, the London Coliseum and the Theatre Royal Haymarket, the Café de Paris has plenty of competition. But the venue can easily hold its own against the bigger theatres, with laser shows and club nights as well as cabaret shows like the "Disco Cabaret Show", which returned to the venue at the beginning of 2020 and tells, somewhat exaggeratedly, the story of Studio 54, the famous nightclub and now theatre. Make sure you search for Café de Paris tickets on StubHub to ensure you don’t miss out on a show - it truly is an incredible experience. For anyone travelling to the venue on public transport and wishing to take the London Underground, Piccadilly Circus station, Leicester Square station and Charing Cross station all surround the Café de Paris and are within a short walk of the venue. Alternatively, there are numerous London buses which travel to Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus.
