A Night Like No Other With By The Rivers
By The Rivers is a group that defies expectations, being a six-piece of young British guys from Leicester that describe themselves as "new age reggae." The band formed out of a shared passion for reggae music, and are bringing their songs of love and positive social messages to the youth of the United Kingdom.
Schedule
By The Rivers will be embarking on an upcoming tour of the United Kingdom. Venues will include The Institute in Birmingham, East Village Arts Club in Liverpool, City Hall in Salisbury, Thekla in Bristol, Hoxton Square Bar and Kitchen in London, Arts Centre in Norwich, 02 Academy in Sheffield and The Boiler Room in Guildford. The band also regularly plays international festivals such as the Vintage Weekender in Lille, France. Grab By The Rivers tickets before their shows sell out.
Trivia
The band's dream is to play The Pyramid Stage at The Glastonbury Festival. Drummer Jordan Birtles said to the Leicester Mercury, "If we ever got to play the Pyramid Stage it would be a dream - I think it's every musician's dream." Luckily for this group, it appears to be a possibility, considering that they were picked by BBC Glastonbury as one of the five up and coming bands who might one day play that stage. Considering that the 2014 headliners of The Pyramid included The Arctic Monkeys and The Rolling Stones, it would be quite an ascent for By The Rivers to join their ranks.
Band/Singer
By The Rivers consists of Nile Barrow on lead vocals and guitar, Jordan Birtles on drums and backing vocals, Sam Read playing keyboard, guitar, and also doing backing vocals, Matt Willars on bass and Will Todd on tenor saxophone. The band's feel-good spirit and peppy attitude shine through, as does their reverence towards the legendary reggae acts of Jamaica and Britain. By The Rivers are very savvy on social media, with active Twitter and Facebook accounts, and a Soundcloud page whose tracks all feature tens of thousands of plays. The band is a local favourite in Leicester, and the new found fame is causing these humble home town boys to take stock of their exceptional rising star.
Breakthrough
The band's breakthrough moment occurred when they played the BBC Introducing Stage at Glastonbury. The performance was one of the most popular at the festival, and was a surprise hit raved at by fans and critics alike. This led to a serious interest in the group, which they have been capitalising on with new releases and rampant touring.
Hit Albums
By The Rivers' first release was the EP One Word, which was released in August 2011. However, the EP gained little mainstream attention. The band had better luck after a self-titled release in 2013 on Glasgow's Kompyla Records. The album is available through their Bandcamp or in physical formats, and it features the uplifting and catchy title track "Vampire." That same summer, they released the single "Board That Train," which they recorded at Soft Touch Studios in Leicester.
Show Experience
By The Rivers puts on an absolutely riveting show. This group of energetic young men love what they do, and that passion shines through during their live performances. The band loves for audiences to have fun, and shouting or singing along is encouraged. By The Rivers tickets guarantee an unique musical experience and a judgment-free zone of reggae bliss.
