Daughter to a Broadway star and pianist, music is in the blood of this soloist. Her creative ambitions were nurtured after receiving her first guitar at the age of eight, but it wasn't until meeting blues promoter Dick Waterman during college that music became more than simply a casual interest. An appearance on Warren Zevon's self-titled album alongside Jackson Browne and members of Fleetwood Mac saw her profile raised even further before the release of the hit success Runaway.

The singer's big break came in 1989 with the release of her 10^th studio album Nick of Time.
