Bear's Den Biography - Newly Trimmed Duo Bring Red Earth and Pouring Rain in 2016
Hailing from London, folk rock trio Bears Den formed in 2012, taking sonic stimulus from Americana soloist Ryan Adams and Britain's burgeoning new wave of folk bands such as Mumford and Sons. Andrew Davie, Joey Haynes and Kevin Jones soon earned themselves a horde of devoted fans for their stripped-back sound. The group disappeared to a remote cottage in rural wales to record their debut EP, which they sold at their live shows and went on to record their acclaimed Agape EP in pastoral Norfolk. The spellbinding five track record set the tone for their follow up Without/Within later that year.
Lilting banjo-driven chorales and their down-to-earth ethos helped them win a slot supporting Mumford and Sons at the O2 Arena in London, and shows alongside critically acclaimed touring artists like Smoke Fairies, Matt Corby and Of Monsters and Men. Stirring vocal harmonies on tracks like 'Agape' and Ivor Novello nominated 'Above the Clouds of Pompeii' earned the band prominent airplay, and their debut album Islands became one of the most successful releases of 2015.
After the departure of their guitarist Joey Haynes, this terrific duo are set to gain further traction among folk rock fans in 2016 with their sophomore album Red Earth and Pouring Rain, which is said to be inspired by Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles.
