Arnold Palmer Invitational TicketsSince moving to the Bay Hill Club and Lodge in 1979, the Arnold Palmer Invitational has seen many top golfers win this tournament. This tournament has always given exemptions to many rising stars, so you will want to be on hand to see golf’s newest players. If you were at the invitational in 2007, you would have seen a young Vijay Singh take home the victory. Alternatively, if you were at the invitational in 2010, you would have seen Ernie Els win his first major golf tournament. One of the first exemptions that Japanese teen sensational golfer Ryo Ishikawa got was to the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2009. Grab your Arnold Palmer Invitational tickets at StubHub.
Did the Arnold Palmer Invitational ever end in a playoff? In 1982, a three-person playoff was needed to determine the winner. The playoff was between Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson and Tom Kite, and Kite came out the winner. Gary Koch turned in the lowest final-round score of 63. Yet, it was not enough to win the Arnold Palmer International when he was beaten in a playoff by George Burns.
Did Tiger Woods ever win the Arnold Palmer Invitational?Yes, Tiger Woods won the Arnold Palmer four times in a row. He won the invitational each year from 2000 to 2003. This is an amazing feat that has not been done in a major golf tournament since Gene Sarazen won his fourth Miami Open in 1930. Four victories at Bay Hill was not enough for Tiger Woods, however, as he also won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2008, becoming the first professional golf player to win the same major golf tournament five times. He also won in 2009, 2012 and 2013.
What are some of the important features of Bay Hill where the Arnold Palmer Invitational is played?Bay Hill was the first professional golf course in the world to have Bermuda grass. After Arnold Palmer’s course redesign in 2009, the course became 7,196 yards long, and it is a par 72 course. Hole two has been rated as one of the toughest holes at any PGA golf course, and it is the second-longest par three on the course. Some say that the 18th hole is the most challenging because of the long hit necessary to land the ball on the right side of the bunker. Rocks and water in front of the bunker add a layer of complexity. Alternatively, players rated the 16th hole as one of the easiest to play of those they faced during any PGA tournament. This hole can prove dangerous for players, however, because of the water hazards. It has the highest percentage of birdies on the course.
