WeatherTech SportsCar Championship - North American racing series
A merger of the Rolex Sports Car and American Le Mans Series, the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship is one of the most popular motor racing events in North America. You can both buy and sell WeatherTech SportsCar Championship tickets on StubHub.
The merging of two premier sports car series
Following the merger between the International Motor Sports Association and Grand-Am Road Racing in 2012, the two governing bodies' premier sports car series, American Le Mans and Rolex Sports Car, were also merged into one. First staged in 2014, the Championship features three different classes, Prototype, GT Le Mans and GT Daytona, and takes place across numerous North American circuits including the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, Sebring International Raceway and Long Beach Street Circuit. The season typically begins every January with the Rolex 24 Hour of Daytona and ends in October with the Petit Le Mans, with other races including the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix, the Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio and the Continental Tire Road Race Showcase. The series' popularity has been boosted by wide coverage from Fox Sports 1, while NBC Sports picked up the rights to screen its events in 2019. If you haven't yet experienced its thrills and spills, then check out the range of WeatherTech SportsCar Championship tickets on offer at StubHub.
Domination by the Portuguese and Brazilians
The early years of the Prototype series were dominated by João Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi, with the Portuguese/Brazilian dream team winning the IMSA Championship twice and the Michelin Endurance Cup a highly impressive four years in a row. But it was a much more competitive field in the other categories, with the likes of Canada's Kuno Wittmer, France's Patrick Pilet and the transatlantic duo of Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner winning in the GTLM class, and the American pairings of Townsend Bell & Bill Sweedler, Bryan Sellers & Madison Snow and Al Carter & Cameron Lawrence reigning supreme in the GTD. Chevrolet were the most successful manufacturer in the first five years of the competition, finishing on top nine times, with the likes of Cadillac, Porsche and Ferrari also achieving multiple wins. Don't miss out on the chance to see your favourite drivers in action and book your WeatherTech SportsCar Championship tickets on StubHub. You can also book tickets for a motor racing championship closer to home, the British Touring Car Championship.
