Alkaline Trio: alt-rock success story

Emerging from the northwest suburbs of Chicago in 1996, it took Alkaline Trio just a year to release their first EP Sundials in 1997. The group would plough on with minor releases until 2001, when From Here to Infirmary became their breakthrough release off the back of hit singles "Stupid Kid" and "Private Eye". Follow-ups Good Mourning and Crimson also proved to be huge alt-rock successes, with the catchy hooks of singles "Time to Waste" and "Mercy Me" standing out among the more punky direction their contemporaries had taken at the time. The trio's runaway success saw the band play their biggest headline shows to date and support My Chemical Romance at the height of their success. 2008 album Agony & Irony demonstrated the group's progress, charting at number 13 on the Billboard album charts within just the first week of sales.
