In 1973, the Albany Great Danes hired Bob Ford as head coach. After decades of successful coaching with the Great Danes, the stadium was rebuilt and renamed as the Bob Ford Stadium in 2013, which was the first year the team stepped foot onto the field with its new coach, Greg Gattuso. The team has seen many star players have successful careers in the NFL. In 2007 alone, both Jacob Hobbs and Rashad Barksdale were signed with the Philadelphia Eagles while fellow Great Dane Andre Coleman signed with the Los Angeles Chargers. The Albany Great Danes transitioned into the Colonial Athletic Association in 2013 as it was moving into the next chapter of its story with a new coach and a brand-new stadium.
